I’m sure that there are intellectual human beings among us all that bother to carry maps, and analyze them when they go into corn mazes.

*cough*

But I’m not one of them.

Last night, my friend J and I went with her homeschool group to an enormous, ever-expanding when you’re inside, corn maze. Actually, I’m just kidding about the “ever expanding when you’re inside” part, but it certainly seemed like it did.

All that aside – we decided to depart from the rest of the group to purposely get lost in the corn maze.
I quote:
“You can’t go in a corn maze without getting lost! Let’s go get lost for a little while, then find our way out.”
I’m not telling you which one of us said that, but if you want a hint… well…

We ended up doing the first part of the statement – getting lost. We got so lost that we couldn’t find our way out for two hours.
Oh, and did I tell you that we did this in the dark? With a flashlight that didn’t want to work? And no map? In a 10 acre corn maze?

To end my very happy story, we finally broke the rules, ducked under the tape and ran through the corn – finally ending up outside of the maze. And then ran up to the barn where everyone else from the group was waiting/looking for us.

Did I tell you that we’re awesome like that?
(not my photos)
Have you gotten lost inside a corn maze before? Tell me about it – I’d love to hear!

Lovely Photo - Wordless or Not-So-Wordless Wednesday at Aspire
I’ve been rather absent on my blog this week, but I wanted to let you know that I really am still alive. My surprise sweet 16 party didn’t kill me. In fact, it was amazing. I have a post coming up on it, but I haven’t gotten any pictures yet from some friends. And you can’t have a post without pictures, now can you?
Speaking of pictures, take a look at this lovely photo. Taken with my brand-new Nikon CoolPix that my parents got me for my birthday. I’m in love with my new camera, by the way. ;)
Have a wonderful Wednesday (evening)!

You know that feeling, when you don’t really want anything?

Yes, seriously – that feeling. Ever had it?

Every year, I feel like I need to make a list for the things I will randomly say “Oh, I want that! Maybe I’ll ask for it for my birthday or something.” But every year, when my birthday rolls around, I realize that I’ve forgotten all those things that I wanted.

And you know what?

That’s okay.

I don’t need anything. I’m content. There are so many things that would be cool to ask for, but ya know what? I don’t need them. I feel content right now – tapping away at my computer screen. Typing this wonderfully random blog post to more than 200 of the best people ever. Not needing anything. Not wanting anything right now. (Wait, that’s not entirely true. I’m busting at the seams to know what my family is mysteriously hinting at – it has to do with my birthday on Sunday…)

Ok, well, I’ll find out in a few days.

Until then, I’m going to rejoice in being content, and confident in my Savior who is above all. Now that’s something to be content about.

As the title well-implies, I’ve been invited to a virtual “Barn Party”, hosted by my mum at her blog Everyday Ruralty. Wait, if it’s “at” my house, do I really have to be invited? Will be debating that one later…

1. Who would you bring with you?
Because this is virtual, and all my family is already “attending”, I’m going to name some blogger folk that I’d bring with me. :) Anywho, I’d bring along Liz, Hannah M, Eldarwen and Evie.

2. What would you wear to the party?
Hmm… probably jeans. And a sweater… I know, I’m not very creative, am I? I just love me some blue jeans. :)

3. What would you most like to see on my farm?
I don’t know… Maybe… three dozen people pulling weeds in the field? Or…. four dozen people pulling weeds in the field? Can I get five dozen?

4. What dish would you bring, since it’s pot-luck?
I’m tempted to put an “N/A” on this question. Hmmm, I have absolutely no idea. Probably some sort of dessert, but I’m at a loss. My point = I don’t try hard enough in the kitchen.

5. What game or activity would you like to do during our get-together?
How about “Pull the weeds in the field”? And when everyone’s all nice and sweaty, maybe we can grease a pig. ;) Just for my entertainment, of course.

Why don’t you all hope over to Everyday Ruralty and join in the fun!? I happen to know that there will be giveaways all week that you can enter, if you’ve “attended” the party. :)

One of the reasons I haven’t been here in the blog world all that much, or commenting (sorry!) is because I’m studying… for the PSAT. It probably doesn’t seem to be that big of a deal for most of you, however, I’m becoming a little freaked out. Why?

  1.  Math is my worst subject – I took a practice quiz tonight and got 18/36. Ouch.
  2. Alright, confession time. I’ve never, ever sat inside a classroom. In my entire life. I’ve got enough to worry about with the previous confession (math, *cough*), that I don’t need to be distracted by a new environment.
Although, these are not the scores that might or might not qualify me for the National Merit Scholarship. I’m definitely thankful for that (I’ll be taking that PSAT in the spring…). I’m issuing an official SOS here – does anyone have any advice or tips? Prayers would be appreciated as well.
Now, for the second part of my post. I’ve been considering participating in NaNoWriMo. In case you don’t know, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month, where you write a 50,000 word novel from scratch in 30 days (Nov.). Exciting, huh?
However, I have one slight problem. It’s called time. I barely have time to sit and write this post, let alone write a 50,000 word novel in one month.
There is an alternative – NaNoWriMo has a Young Writers Program, where you can set a goal for yourself, then complete it in November.
  • Realistically, it’s more doable than it’s sister program.
  • Not-so-realistically, it’s not the same. You don’t have that extreme number of words to work up to, unless you set it for yourself. And that’s no fun, really.

So, what do you think? Should I just go for it and do

NaNoWriMo
or should I participate in
YWP – NaNoWriMo
I’m putting up a poll on the sidebar – go ahead and tell me what you think!
