Last night. It was the most picturesque definition of spring on the farm. There was a soft breeze, and warmth lingered for a short while well the sun set. I took the baskets and sought out eggs that our very free-range chickens had deposited in the old tobacco stripping rooms and elsewhere. The grown pigs chased the stray chickens that had wandered into their pen. The seventeen baby pigs slept in a pile, snoring. The horses gorged themselves on springtime grass, and ten lambs frolicked around their pasture.

There are times when you don’t need a camera to document something, because the subject is impossible to capture on a visual still. The air, the sounds, and the feeling of last night was impossible to capture on camera because it can only be truly experienced in person. And yet, I attempt to tell you about it in writing.

Words are amazing.

Many of my goals from my eighteen before eighteen bucket list are rather lofty. They are not, however, in-achievable (for the most part.) But it is because they are lofty that you now find me checking off my first one.

4. shoot senior pictures for at least one friend

And here we are. J and I finished up our senior shoot last week. I’m so thrilled with how everything has turned out. We both agree that we don’t know how she’ll ever decide on one…

Friday was full of laughter and sunshine. J and I went down to the beach and walked the boardwalk. Then, we dodged small children, dog-walkers and horseshoe crabs as we walked in the sand, letting the water curl around our bare feet. We then abandoned shoes altogether, and walked around the small beach town, barefoot. Two laughing teenagers with bare feet and Nikons. We may or may not have gotten some weird looks. But you know what? It’s all good, because we’re now finished with her senior pictures.

And that, my friends, is a very good thing. Because there are only 8 more weeks of school left, and then I’m done with high school forever.

It was sunrise, as I set out on our barn road for my morning run. The incredible fog was mixed with the golden rays of the rising sun, making for gorgeous lighting. A few minutes later, I stopped, as I came upon a cluster of the most intricate spiderwebs. With the misty sunlight providing a dreamy backlight, I felt the urge to get my camera. And so I did.

1. Speaking of inspiration. I have a problem. You see, I’ve been bookmarking favorites for this weekly feature for the past eight weeks. I haven’t taken the time to clear out my bookmark folder, meaning that now it is relatively impossible for me to find ANYTHING there because of the quantity of bookmarks. Methinks I need to clear out that clutter.

2. Food Inspiration. This brioche recipe from Seven Spoons. (link) Cookie Dough Swirl Marshmallows. (link) Chocolate Chip Cookie Mousse Bomb. (link) Me? Have a sugar addiction problem? Never!

3. On the blog this week. Also, the second part of the senior shoot is coming this week. I’m SO excited. Seriously.

4. Random Inspiration. This lovely photo class is tempting me oh-so-much. However, I think that three other photography-related purchases are first in line. (link) I’m pretty much in love with the blog 17 and Baking. I’m loving this article on how she took her supplies with her to college. (link) hey mom, dad? I need a steamer trunk now…

5. The Hunger Games. “Does anyone else see the irony in our society being obsessed with The Hunger Games? IT’S KINDA SICK.” – Olivia Rae via Twitter. Um, yes. This is so true. (For reference, I read the first book, and have since moved on without reading 2 &3. Ha. So not obsessed.)

Have an awesome Monday!
