What kind of camera do you use?
I own a Nikon D5000. All of the pictures from October 2011 and on are taken with the D5000. Anything before that was taken with a Nikon Coolpix L22.
What lenses do you have?
I have the 18-55mm kit lens and the 55-200mm zoom lens, and will be adding the 35mm 1.8 to my collection very soon.
Any advice from what you’ve learned?
First of all, learn to use the camera you have. The best way to learn how to take good pictures is on a point and shoot – seriously. Secondly, practice all the time. Every day.
What is your photography philosophy?
I believe that a photography is an art that is only learned through experience, hard work, and a passion and calling. Photography is portraying the world how you look at it, and looking at others’ photography is looking at the world through their eyes. If you don’t love photography, you won’t follow through with it.
Editing tips?
If the image, in my opinion, isn’t publishable straight of the camera, then it probably isn’t something you want to be displaying as your best work. I edit in Lightroom – 99% of the time this is mostly running a preset of mine, or doing basic touch-ups.
Do you want to pursue photography?
Yes, as a hobby or secondary career. Journalism is my first love, and photography compliments that naturally.
Where can I see your portfolio?
Keep reading the blog! I post much of my current work here.
